Job Skills / Requirements

Key Responsibilities  

  

  • Maintain the Recruitment/Retention Trainee Tracker and ensure all activity is documented accurately. 
  • Facilitate weekly retention meetings with the site management team to review trainee progress and address support needs. 
  • Monitor overall retention trends and escalate concerns or patterns to leadership. 
  • Training Records: Maintain meticulous digital and physical logs of all completed training to ensure audit readiness (SQF, BRC, or USDA/FDA). 
  • KPI Tracking: Monitor the "time-to-autonomy" for new hires and adjust training methods to improve retention and performance. 
  • Onboarding & Day 1 Integration  
  • Welcome all new hires at the designated security entrance and escort them to the office or plant.  
  • Introduce new hires to site leadership and key team members.  
  • Conduct in plant orientation and a full plant tour/walkthrough.  
  • Issue PPE and review safety expectations.  
  • Introduce each new hire to their assigned trainer and outline the first day plan.  
  • Conduct a brief (5minute) post shift debrief with every new hire to assess experience, answer questions, and reinforce support.  
  • Conduct nightly plant safety walkthroughs to check on trainees and trainers. 
  • Monitor training progress and provide coaching, encouragement, and corrective guidance as needed. 
  • Maintain visible presence on the floor to reinforce safety, sanitation standards, and training consistency. 
  • Schedule and lead weekly trainer meetings (20 25 minutes) to maintain alignment, elevate best practices, and address challenges. 
  • Support the development of bilingual trainers to enhance communication and training effectiveness. 
  • Ensure trainers understand and follow the complete training cycle for their assigned areas. 
  • Review and reinforce the Trainer Overlock procedure. 
  • Communicate expectations regarding the 30Day Challenge and track all trainee progress. 
  • Explain qualification expectations to trainees and trainers, including the five criteria: 

Qualification Criteria  

  1. 7 Steps of Sanitation  Can consistently perform all seven steps with minimal supervision. 
  2. Safety  Understands and ensures compliance with all safety policies covered in new hire training. 
  3. Chemicals  Understands chemical types, labeling, PPE requirements, and mixing precautions. 
  4. Pace  Maintains a work pace that supports operational timelines and plant readiness. 
  5. Attendance  Demonstrates dependable attendance, including adherence to call-in procedures. 
  • Schedule weekly debriefing meetings with all trainees still in the qualification or training process. 
  • Provide guidance, answer questions, and reinforce expectations. 
  • Maintain open communication with trainees to identify training gaps, safety concerns, or morale issues.   
  • Coordinate with the Site Manager to schedule and execute Qualification Recognition/Celebration for trainees who complete the 30day training period and meet all criteria. 
  • Present qualified trainees with their white hat and acknowledge their achievement. 
  • Communicate career pathways within sanitation and encourage trainees to pursue advancement opportunities, including becoming Sanitation Specialists or new hire trainers. 
  • Experience: 3+ years in industrial sanitation, food manufacturing, or a highly regulated clean environment.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in training, supervisory, or lead hand role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of safety, chemical safety, titration, and sanitary design.
  • Communication: Ability to break down complex technical tasks into simple, easy-to-follow instructions for diverse learning styles.
  • Bilingual Skills (Required): Fluency in both English and Spanish. Having the ability to read and write in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in various environments (hot, cold, wet, or humid).
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. without assistance.
  • Comfortable being on your feet for extended periods and working assigned shifts..
