The Human Resources Generalist will serve as a proactive people partner to the manufacturing operations leadership team in South San Francisco, partnering to build people programs for Shaw Bakers, effectively executing the programs in consultation with key stakeholders across all functions, including the executive leadership team. The role will be responsible for helping to create and evolve an inclusive, employer-of-choice work environment through continuous assessment of our rapidly scaling workplace needs, including incorporation of all systems, tools, processes and innovative people programs needed to drive business goals and employee satisfaction.

In this role, the HR Generalist will work with the Sr. Director People Operations and CFO to build people initiatives and programs that will be used as best practices that can effectively be deployed across all current and future Shaw facilities. The HR Generalist will work to ensure consistency and compliance across all programs, executing them with a high level of integrity and discretion. The HR Generalist will develop, document, and communicate all company policies, employee wellness, with a focus on company and manufacturing plant morale, staffing, and employee relations.

The HR Generalist ensures their site-specific supervisors, managers and employees are managed effectively and have the necessary tools and training to manage performance effectively. This position also serves as an active member in the external HR community, with local manufacturing HR networks to bring best practices from the manufacturing industry, ensuring a strong competitive position.

What You Need:

  • BS/BA - HR Management, Business or IO Psychology, OR equivalent experience.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish.
  • 4+ years of Human Resources experience, as a Generalist across all people functions, including hourly staff recruiting, salary administration, payroll, benefits, employment law, training and performance management.
  • 2 + years? experience in a manufacturing operations environment; specifically partnering with the plant.
  • Equally experienced with executing people operations programs and successfully partnering with advising leaders.
  • Proven ability to work in a rapidly growing, fast-paced organization, managing competing priorities.
  • Advanced technical skills, including HRIS Systems, Microsoft Office, ERP, and PM Systems.
  • PHR strongly preferred.

What You?ll Do:

Generalist

  • Manage all HR processes, policy and practices to ensure compliance.
  • Serve on plant management team and people operations team to drive alignment, progress, quality, and innovation.
  • Partner with site HR Coordinator and other cross-functional partners.
  • Partner with specifically assigned vendor partners.
  • Manager employee events, meetings, trainings.

Talent Planning

  • Participate in headcount planning across the plant, in partnership with the Plant Director, ensuring proper talent mix for maximum productivity.
  • Ongoing headcount management for the SSF facility.
  • Advise succession plans, promotions, & new hires.
  • Contribute to the full-cycle Shaw recruiting methodology, partnering with Talent Acquisition.
  • Develop ongoing relationships with employment career centers, trade schools, and outside staffing agencies.
  • Plan and execute local career fairs ensuring Shaw Bakers is represented professionally.
  • Partner with the Senior Director on all federal and state compliance audits, collecting data and creating action plans.
  • Develop and lead all training and development initiatives.

Performance Management

  • Execute established full cycle annual performance processes locally, in partnership with plant and corporate leadership.
  • Advise leaders about succession and promotion planning, through a systematic process around competency models, mobility, and the identification of skill gaps.
  • Ensure job descriptions are reviewed and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations.
  • Manage compensation with Plant Management, and HR & finance leadership, ensuring compensation and bonus rewards are mapped to performance-based outcomes.
  • Manage annual bonus program, in partnership with plant leadership.
  • Ensure all salary increases are equitable, managed to compliance, documented and reported.
  • Advise and manage succession planning.
  • Conduct exit interviews, gather insights on employee experiences, and provide feedback to leadership to improve retention.

People Operations

  • Lead all people operations functions, including onboarding, offboarding, training, systems administration, payroll, compliance, and reporting.
  • Manage data in the HRIS, ensuring reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure timely coordination of all exit paperwork, benefits, final pay, and system access termination.
  • Manage benefits open enrollment, including partnering with benefits provide, for your assigned site.
  • Participate on the safety team.

Employee Relations

  • Support development and training of supervisors and leads teams on all aspects of employee relations and compliance.
  • Ensure all company policies are applied consistently, and systems and processes are maintained.
  • Investigate and document employee issues and conflicts to bring them to resolution thoroughly, supporting disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Manage employee relations communications with all key stakeholders.
  • Manage all local, state, and federal compliance, related to employment, ensuring a safe, sound, and compliant work environment.
