VP of Sales Specialty Ingredients (Start-Up)

SUMAMRY
Our client is a 3-year-old specialty ingredient manufacturer serving bakery and confectionery manufacturers across the U.S. and internationally. With strong growth and increasing market momentum, the company is ready to scale operations in North America and is seeking an energetic Vice President of Sales to lead this next phase. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Global CEO, based in Germany.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sales Growth
Drive new business development by presenting and selling the company?s innovative products to B2B food customers. Identify and engage key decision-makers across R&D, Marketing, and Executive levels, secure meetings, and expand the customer base across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 CPG manufacturers.
- Sales Management
Own responsibility for sales volume and revenue targets for both individual and team performance. Expand business with existing accounts while developing new customers. Contribute to sales planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Customer Relationships
Develop strong, long-term partnerships with key strategic customers. Collaborate on customer business plans, deliver best-in-class service, and identify opportunities to expand engagement across customer organizations.
- Account & Project Management
Coordinate internal and external resources across technical, operational, and commercial functions to accelerate the sales process and ensure seamless execution.
- Team Development
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to sales team members. Drive skill-building initiatives and foster a culture of accountability and professional growth. Partner with other sales leaders to maintain organizational alignment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, R&D, and Technical Services teams to meet growth objectives. Resolve key challenges and improve internal processes that impact sales performance.
- Leadership
Act with integrity and consistency. Deliver on commitments, hold others accountable, and model the company?s values.
- Communication
Demonstrate outstanding communication skills, both internally and externally. Deliver persuasive presentations and maintain strong executive-level and customer-facing communication.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of specialty ingredient or sweetener sales experience with industrial/commercial food manufacturers.
- Established network and relationships with bakery and confectionery manufacturers across North America.
- Minimum 3 years of field sales management experience.
- Strong background in food technology, chemistry, or related field strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to execute sales strategies and deliver measurable results.

- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong sales planning and strategic thinking abilities.
- Knowledge of new product development (NPD) and reformulation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage strategic customer relationships.
- Solid product and application knowledge within specialty ingredients.
- Effective team leader with the ability to inspire and gain buy-in for new initiatives.
- Willingness to travel as required.
