Position Summary:

The Crush Operator is a member of the Operations Team reporting directly to the Superintendent of Operations and Operations Supervisors. The Crush Operator is accountable and responsible for the processing of seed into crude oil and meal, meeting established quality and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating equipment and technology tools throughout the facility which may include filters, grinders, mixers, etc
  • Collecting product samples & supervising tank levels, utilizing computer systems to input and record data as necessary
  • Manufacturing products to ensure that they meet specifications
  • Interacting regularly with peers & management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations and promote a teamwork focused environment
  • Maintain daily shift report
  • Operating mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, etc.
  • Understanding and adhering to all safety policies & procedures
  • Maintaining a safe & clean work environment
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Previous experience in an industrial environment preferred
  • Ability to follow policies & procedures
  • Must be proficient in reading, speaking, and writing in English for the purpose of record keeping, safety and quality training processes & communicating business related information
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team & safety environment
  • Some mechanical background including the ability to recognize signs of operational failure
  • Basic computer skills


Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet & above)
  • Good written & verbal communications skills
  • Strong problem solving & analytical skills
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Must be willing and able to work rotating shift
  • Overtime will be required both as part of the normal schedule & to provide coverage as needed
